A Rainy Day
October 25th, 2009 4:12 PM
It's not the most convenient time to look at homes, but a rainy day can be your friend.  It's a great time to see if there are any leaks in the roof or unwanted water in the basement.  Just remember, when looking at homes in inclement weather, be respectful and either wipe your feet before entering or remove your shoes.  The sellers want you to be able to take your time and view the home, but no one likes to clean up a mess. This seems like an odd issue to talk about because it should be common sense, but, many times unfortunately, common sense is not so common.

Do YOUR Homework!
October 9th, 2009 4:05 PM
When you are moving to a new area, there are some things you just need to take charge of and do yourself ... call the local police department and ask questions about the neighborhood crime and if there are any sex offenders known in the area or anything you should be aware of.  If you need phone numbers for the local police just give us a call at 570-412-9821 and we will be happy to get that info for you.

Compromise
October 3rd, 2009 7:59 PM
When you are beginning your search to find a home, you should discuss what is important to you/your family, be it location, large kitchen, large family room, fireplaces, swimming pool, etc., and priortize just how important each thing is.  More often than not, it will be frustrating when you can't find that 1 home that has everything you are looking for in your price range and compromises will have to be made, so the decision will have to be made as to what items you can live without and what ones you can't.  Often, that's a hard decision because it's understandable you would like to have it all and it's difficult to step out of the box (so to speak) and think things out.  That's where talking with us could be helpful and we are available to answer any questions you may have, just give us a call!
